Yashodara hails from a middle class family which had no difficulties in life. Her husband Malinga Perera was successfully running a flower shop and a hotel which were located side by side near the fort that was situated at the seashore before Tsunami struck the coast. The couple had borne six children in all of which everyone except the eldest daughter were still young children. The horrid tidal wave known as Tsunami had turned her life topsy turvy. The merciless tidal wave had not only washed away their shops but had also taken the life of her husband. The fate of the three year old infant still remains a mystery as neither the kid nor its body has been found till date.
